Happy New Year ~ Growing in Unity Day 1

Hello Friends

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Welcome to my first post of 2016 and my first day of being the growing in Unity girl. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and have had a very happy New Year so far. I am not really into New Year resolutions are you?  However I do like to give myself new challenges.  There are a few things I would love to accomplish this year. Hence the new beginnings blog theme you will see this week.  I am excited to be showing you my projects every day this week. The first card I have up is one I made using the Christy Tomlinson She Leaped stamp and the She Script background stamp. I thought this was appropriate since it is the beginning of a New Year. I love this stamp and do not use it nearly enough. So I wanted to start off my new year with it.

I stamped the background of the card about 4 times with the script stamp using archival ink. I stamped the girl separately and coloured her with my new Derwent Inktense Watercolour pencils.  I love these pencils so much they are also super easy to work with. I am not great a colouring so these are very forgiving  and would be great for beginners. The pencil basically turns into ink when you wet it with your brush. I used some foam dots to adhere her on the card then tied some pink twine on the side to finish it off.

My second card I have for you is this really quick and easy one. I used some patterned paper and stamped this C.S Lewis sentiment from the Far Better Things Ahead Grab Bag . I glued one of these wee calendar books  to the front. I got mine at my local garden centre I think they were only 99p for a packet of 10. I thought they would make really good calendar cards so picked some up. I have also seen them in Craft shops.  I kept the card really simple so that it can just sit out for the remainder of the year. I made this one for my Mum she has it sitting on her bookshelves right now.

So I hope you like my cards today. Come back and join me tomorrow and see what else I have created for you.  Remember to leave me a comment to be in with a chance of wining a lovely prize from Unity.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today.

Unity & Misti Blog Hop

Hello My lovelies :) Welcome to the Unity and Misti blog hop! I  hope you are enjoying seeing all of the projects so far. I just had my first wee play with the Misti tool the other day. It is a very new to me tool and wow do I LOVE it!! It is awesome! Just for the simplest of things like positioning a stamp.  One time is all you need with the Misti!! I am not one of those crafters that gets my stamped images crisp first time. I usually have wasted a card or two before I end up with a perfect image. This tool totally eliminates all of that.  Here is my very first card that I made with the Misti tool and Unity stamps.  I used a stamp called  Scattered Pieces . I LOVE this stamp and the sentiments that come with it.  I positioned the feather and the sentiment at the same time on the Misti.  I totally love that you can do that too!  It lets you stamp several at once instead of just eye b...

Craft Stamper November Challenge

Hey Friends Welcome to a new  Craft Stamper  challenge for November. Can you believe we are almost at the end of the year already!!  Where did time go?? It has been pretty cold and frosty up here in Scotland for the last few nights.   But I am hanging on to Autumn as long as I can. I took a wee walk around the park and collected some lovely Autumn leaves.  I wanted to incorporate them into my project today.  I put the leaves in some paper and put them inside a heavy book overnight to press them down.  I started off with a white card base and used this sentiment stamp from Unity and repeat stamped all down the side of my card using Potting Soil Archival Ink. Then I went around the edges with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink.  Next I took my leaves and my paper punches and punched a heart shape out from the yellow leaf and then stuck it to my card with fabric glue.  Then I punched som...

Tag Trio Day 5 GIU

Hello Friends Welcome to my final day as GIU girl. I must say that I have loved every minute of it and I have enjoyed putting all of my projects together for you to see. So I wanted to end my week with some distress tags. I love getting messy with my distress inks and using the embossing resist technique. I chose this lovely flower stamp set called  Insightful Meadows . The sentiments are from another stamp set called  The Simple Things . These were so easy to make I stamped all of the flowers and heat embossed them with white embossing powder. Then I took 3 different colours for each tag and swiped them on to my craft sheet. I spritzed some water and let the tag pick up the inks. I dried them 3 or 4 times in between until I had built up the colours I wanted.  I then stamped out the sentiments on to vellum and heat embossed them with white embossing powder. I attached the vellum with glue and glued it at the back of ...
