Clothed in Strength

Hello Friends :)

Happy Monday to you! I was messing around with my inks for an ink challenge this morning. But it really was NOT happening for me. So I just played around and ended up making this card instead. It totally was not what I was trying to make at all.  I love happy craft accidents as they don't happen very often to me :)

This card is made with the Strength & Dignity KOM 11/13 from Unity. I am using this kit a lot lately.  I made the background with distress inks sponging Victorian Velvet and Peeled Paint. Then stamped some images on top with just the Victorian Velvet.

Then I heat embossed the sentiment with black glitter embossing powder. It's my new embossing powder I bought from Zing. I found it at Hobby Lobby. The camera does not do it any justice but it leaves a nice subtle sparkle behind. I mounted it on to black card then a white card base. I stamped some flowers at the bottom of the card. Then coloured them with the same inks and added some rhinestones to finish.

I hope you enjoy my card  :)

Destiny - Wall Art

 Hello Friends

I had a crafty day today It always makes me happy to get my stamps out and make a mess. I find it very therapeutic :)  I saw these wooden frames at A.C Moore last week and thought they would make great frames for my stamping projects. They were only $1 super inexpensive and today I got to play around with one.  I painted it black with acrylic paint and left it to dry while I stamped something for the insert.

I got out the newly Nov 2013 KOM I bought.  I love this kit it is called Strength and Dignity you can find it here on the Unity website. The reason I bought this set was because I LOVED this quote:

 "HARDSHIPS OFTEN PREPARE
ORDINARY PEOPLE FOR AN
EXTRAORDINARY DESTINY."
C.S Lewis

It is a quote that really speaks to my soul. I love all of the works of Lewis.  I find his writing inspirational. He is probably most known for the Chronicles of Narnia.  However, there are so many other books he wrote that are definitely worth a read.

So back to my project. I stamped the quote using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then stamped the butterfly from the same kit with the same ink. I then used my distress inks to create the colours on the butterfly. I used Tumbles Glass, Peacock Feathers and Stormy Sky. I blended them all together starting from light to dark from the bottom up. I glued the butterfly to the card.  Then I glued the card to the wooden frame. I replaced the twine with black ribbon and then hung it on my wall :)

Thanks for Visiting :)

God's Timing

Happy Friday friends It's time for Friends with Flair over at the Unity blog :)  I got an early birthday present from my hubby new ink yay :)  I was never really a fan of distress inks  I bought them before and ended up  giving them away as I could not get into them. I decided I would  give them another try and this time around I LOVE them :) I think the trick is learning how to use them. I was using them too much like regular ink and that turned out too messy for me. I love how you can create your own backgrounds with them and the colours stay so vibrant.

I used 3 different Unity stamps on this card. I love this sentiment God's timing is perfect it is something I need to be reminded of. It worked perfectly with the butterfly and script stamps and makes a really nice encouragement card. I love the faith stamps available at Unity they are so unique.

I stamped the the sentiment and script stamp with versamark ink then used white embossing powder and heat set it. I created the background using the blending tool and distress inks. The ink naturally resists the embossing if there is any ink left on top of the stamped area you can wipe it with a paper towel. I spritzed the card with some water and dried it with my heat tool to set the watermarks in place. I stamped the butterfly with distress ink and watered it down with a damp brush to take some of the colour out. I then cut it out and added some rhinestones.  I punched tiny butterflies and sprinkled them around the card. I love how the colours stay really bright against the white embossing.

Thanks for stopping by to visit my blog :)

Your wings exist - This was my first ever Unity stamp I ever bought I just fell in love with this wee girl and all the sentiments that come with her. You can find it over at unity here :)  I stamped and colored her then I found a teeny weeny little flower stamp and stamped her dress with it and coloured the flowers. I am not really sure what I was trying to do with her hair but it turned out ok in the end :)

Wednesday Tag

Day 3 already :) I pulled out my fav stamp from the Phyllis Harris collection Every Breath for today's tag I just love all of her girl stamps. I stamped her with Memento Tuxedo Black ink then paper pieced her dress with some scrap paper im not sure what kind. But I know it came from Michael's so it may be recollections. I then colored using alcohol markers. I added some flowers to the bottom as it looked a little bare then used some Icicle Stickles on the flowers and the wish she is blowing. The flower stamp is from stampin up. I then cut out the sentiment and inked around every word with memento rose bud ink then glued it on to the tag :)

I think she turned out really pretty in her polka dot dress :)

Tag Challenge

Happy Monday :) It's my day off today I got up early to do my housework this morning. I thought I would check my email first then signed onto Facebook. BAD idea!!! I saw the tag challenge on the Unity show and tell page just had to take part :)  I have never done a tag before. I only had really small ones so decided to take the template and just make it bigger.

My inspiration was some card stock I got from Michaels craft store a few months ago. It was a cherry blossom tree. I just love Cherry blossoms :) So I pulled out my faithful flower stamp from the Angie Girl : Dream with your heart set. It reminds me of cherry blossoms I use this all the time. I then searched my stash of Unity stamps for a nice sentiment. I  wanted something with HOPE in it. I found the While I breath, I hope stamp from The simple things stamp set. I love the word hope it keeps me going in my faith when times are tough.

I stamped the flowers and the sentiment using Memento rich cocoa ink. The sentiment is one long sentence so I had to stamp it on sections to fit on the tag. I then used some acrylic paint to for the flowers. It was looking a little plain so I then stamped the whole tag with Memento Angel pink with a scrunched up paper towel. I added some small pearls for the centre of the flowers and some pink and brown ribbon.

Here is the finished tag I love it and there are no butterflies in sight :)

Here it is beside my inspirational cardstock :)

Wings

I am moving house this weekend yikes!! I still have a lot to do but I came across this card I made a couple weeks ago. I kept meaning to upload it and never got around to it so I thought I would before it gets packed away :).   I just love butterflies can you tell?? :)  Angela posted this quote to her Facebook page few weeks ago and it really spoke to my soul.

"When you find yourself cocooned in isolation and cannot find your way out of the darkness, remember that this is similar to the place where caterpillars go to grow their wings."

I then saw another version of it on Pinterest later on. So I took it as confirmation I just had to do something crafty with it :) I love it when I find something that just inspires me to create.

I got out my favourite butterfly stamp I use this one all the time. A friend loveth you can buy it here. I printed the words from my computer. Then stamped 2 butterflies top and bottom and coloured them with alcohol markers. I used the generation stamping technique using the smaller butterfly to stamp on top of the words.   I stamped first on a piece of scrap paper this gives you the regular stamp image or 1st generation then stamped on top of the words using the 2nd generation stamp.

You only ink your stamp once then stamp with it until the image fades. I used 2 butterflies so had to do it twice to get the 2nd generation shade I needed. It was just enough to still be able to read the words but made a nice background behind them. I then mounted it onto teal card stock I found in my remnant box then a kraft card base. It needed a little bling so I added some clear rhinestones to the butterflies.

I really like using this technique as you can tell :) I have been using it a lot lately.  Here is the finished card I love it. It is going in a frame and going on my nightstand in my new house.

Thanks for visiting have a blessed day :)

Day 2 Itty Bitty

Welcome to Tuesday's card challenge. I went back to my favourite Itty Bitty butterfly stamps today- A Friend Loveth. I used the sentiment from one of the Phyllis Harris kits at Unity called Your Wings Exist.  I love this stamp set it is my all time favourite.

I used the generation stamping technique with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Using the same ink on the stamp you can get 2 or 3 images they get lighter as you stamp. I have also seen it called shadow stamping.

The big butterfly was stamped in 1st generation and the smaller butterflies were stamped in 2nd and 3rd generation to make them look lighter. I then sponged the card in turquoise pigment ink darker around the edge then mounted it on to white card and added the sentiment.

I love how it turned my favourite scripture paired with my love of butterflies :) Thanks for visiting!

Itty Bitty day 2

Here we are day two of the challenge. I wanted to do a simple card as I need to run out to work. So I took the A Friend Loveth stamp set ( I love butterflies).

I stamped it with brilliance ink in the jewel tone colours. I used  pearlescent purple and orchid and used a  two tone effect on the butterflies. I then used the purple just on the word loveth.  I decided it was too plain so ran some white ribbon through both inks to make the the same colour as the stamp then added some bling.

Thanks for stopping by enjoy your day :)
