All That Glitters Is Snow

Hello Friends

Have you ever seen a stamp that you just absolutely love?? Well I did with this one. The minute I set eyes on this winter girl with her mittens and hot drink I knew I had to have her. She comes as part of one of the kit of the month's at Unity. I am not a member but they usually have a one time purchase of the kit of the month's so I jumped on it. Well actually my husband did, he bought me this one for my birthday which was right before we left for Scotland. This kit is called Warmth of Winter  and is the 12/14 KOM.

I finally got around to using her over the weekend. I had a million ideas for her when I ordered her but now I was stumped with what to do with her. I started off  just putting her down on paper. I heat embossed her with black embossing powder and painted her with my Peerless Watercolors. I absolutely love the way the colours of these paints all blend together. They are almost effortless for a novice like me :) I really want to take a paint class this year it is one of my goals for 2015.

Once she was painted she sat on my counter for 2 days as I was stuck with what to do with her. Then I got the idea to put the trees behind her in white using white embossing powder. The trees are from the same stamp set which is really useful :)   I covered her up and stamped around her then when the trees were set I water coloured them. I wanted to finish off the card with some snow I wanted to use chunky glitter to make it really pop at the bottom. But I could not find my white chunky glitter anywhere so I had to make a quick trip to the craft shop for some.  I put some on the bottom then dotted some around the background of the card. I was really happy with the way it turned out the glitter really makes the card pop. I am just loving the chunky glitter look lately.

I them remembered I had bought a Crafter's Companion magazine while I was home and It came with a free stamp set. This is one of the sentiments I used from it  -  All that glitters is snow.  I just love it! It did happen to snow here yesterday so it was a perfect fit for my card. I stamped it on to a wee bit of vellum and heat embossed it with white embossing powder just to finish off my card.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. I hope you love my card as much as I do :)

Stay tuned to my blog in the coming weeks. I am going to be having a wee giveaway on here for all of my readers. I bought way too many craft things over the last few months so I thought I would share some of them with you guys n girls :)

Unity & Misti Blog Hop

Hello My lovelies :) Welcome to the Unity and Misti blog hop! I  hope you are enjoying seeing all of the projects so far. I just had my first wee play with the Misti tool the other day. It is a very new to me tool and wow do I LOVE it!! It is awesome! Just for the simplest of things like positioning a stamp.  One time is all you need with the Misti!! I am not one of those crafters that gets my stamped images crisp first time. I usually have wasted a card or two before I end up with a perfect image. This tool totally eliminates all of that.  Here is my very first card that I made with the Misti tool and Unity stamps.  I used a stamp called  Scattered Pieces . I LOVE this stamp and the sentiments that come with it.  I positioned the feather and the sentiment at the same time on the Misti.  I totally love that you can do that too!  It lets you stamp several at once instead of just eye b...

Tag Trio Day 5 GIU

Hello Friends Welcome to my final day as GIU girl. I must say that I have loved every minute of it and I have enjoyed putting all of my projects together for you to see. So I wanted to end my week with some distress tags. I love getting messy with my distress inks and using the embossing resist technique. I chose this lovely flower stamp set called  Insightful Meadows . The sentiments are from another stamp set called  The Simple Things . These were so easy to make I stamped all of the flowers and heat embossed them with white embossing powder. Then I took 3 different colours for each tag and swiped them on to my craft sheet. I spritzed some water and let the tag pick up the inks. I dried them 3 or 4 times in between until I had built up the colours I wanted.  I then stamped out the sentiments on to vellum and heat embossed them with white embossing powder. I attached the vellum with glue and glued it at the back of ...

Craft Stamper November Challenge

Hey Friends Welcome to a new  Craft Stamper  challenge for November. Can you believe we are almost at the end of the year already!!  Where did time go?? It has been pretty cold and frosty up here in Scotland for the last few nights.   But I am hanging on to Autumn as long as I can. I took a wee walk around the park and collected some lovely Autumn leaves.  I wanted to incorporate them into my project today.  I put the leaves in some paper and put them inside a heavy book overnight to press them down.  I started off with a white card base and used this sentiment stamp from Unity and repeat stamped all down the side of my card using Potting Soil Archival Ink. Then I went around the edges with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink.  Next I took my leaves and my paper punches and punched a heart shape out from the yellow leaf and then stuck it to my card with fabric glue.  Then I punched som...
