I Love Big Books ~ CS Reminder

Hello Friends   Happy Friday!!  I am back with a wee reminder for the Craft Stamper  challenge this month.    I made this card for today! I thought this sentiment was so cute :)  I thought I would pair two different stamps together to create my card. They are from Unity and they are called Ellie Girl & I Love Big Books.   I coloured her using my inktense watercolour pencils.        I am the kind of person that LOVES real books. I can't get into reading a book on my phone or an ereader.  I love the feel of a book in your hands and the sound of the pages as you flick them over.  I also love the smell of really old books.  Please tell me I am not alone in loving books ????  I am still reading my Christmas ones in January ha :)   So I hope you have some time to create something for this month's challenge if you ha...

Craft Stamper January Challenge

Hello Friends   Welcome to a new year and a new challenge from the Craft Stamper team.  To kick if the year we have a Take A Stamp Challenge. So you get to make anything you want as long there is stamping on your project.    Our sponsor this month is DaliArt. They are giving us a lovely prize which includes assorted Indian ribbon, bindi embellishments, assorted gemstones and an Indian butterfly stamp.       I made this card for my project this month. I heat embossed the sentiment from the Unity  Imagine It  stamp set using white embossing powder. Then I used the floral stamp and used black archival ink to create the pattern.  Then got out my Brushos and created this organic pattern by spritzing water on to my card. I love the way it tuned out.   So now it's your turn to create something. Head on back to the Craft Stamper Blog for all...

Built Her Wings ~ Growing in Unity Day 5

Hello Friends   I can't believe this is my last day as the Growing Unity Girl. I have enjoyed making all of my projects this week. My final project for you today is a tag I made with distress ink.  I think distress inks are my most favourite medium to work with. I used two stamp kits again today they are Fly with Wings of Hope & Much of a Good Thing.   I kept my tag the same colour all the way through. I used Peacock Feathers I love this colour so much. It is my favourite distress colour to work with.  I started off by stamping the distressed musical note stamp and heat embossing with white embossing powder. Then I smeared some distress ink on to my craft mat. Then spritzed with water and just built up the colour on the tag to where I was happy with it. I used my heat gun to dry in between each colour application. I stamped the sentiment and butterfly separately and coloured them. Then I glued them down ...

Dance ~ Growing in Unity Day 4

Hello Friends Welcome back to my blog! This week is flying by I can't believe this is my fourth GIU day.  I have enjoyed showing you my projects. I hope you have enjoyed seeing them. I have used two stamp sets on today's card. They are Go Get it Girl & In My Garden.   I kept this card pretty clean simple and just used a few colours.  I used my inktense watercolour pencils to colour the card. Then layered it with some purple card stock. I added the wee flowers to the side just to finish it off.  I really love all of the  girl stamps that Unity has. They are so unique and you can use the stamps in so many ways and mix and match them.  I just thought that this sentiment went perfect with this girl stamp don't you think? Thanks so much for joining me today be sure and come back tomorrow for my final GIU day. Mandi xox

Butterfly Jar ~ GIU Day 3

Hello Friends Welcome back to my blog and my day 3 of being the Growing in Unity girl.  Today I made an altered jar. This was my husbands coffee jar that I upcycled.  I am not sure about you but I always need storage. So these jars are perfect for holding all my bits and bobs. This one is now home for my pencils. These are so easy to make I just gave the jar a couple of coats of acrylic paint. When it was dry I stamped my butterfly that is from Trust Your Soul  SMAK kit. I used black archival ink give it a few minutes to dry. It takes a little longer to dry on top of the paint. Then I gave the whole jar a clear coat of Distress Crackle Paint . Leave that to dry until the paints crackles. You can then just leave it the way it is but I always like to distress my jars so I use a nail file and file off  bits paint where you want it to look distressed.  Then to finish off I tied some twine around the top.  So I hope y...

Silver Lining ~ GIU day 2

Hello Friends Welcome to my second day of being the growing in Unity girl.  Today I went with another card and I used  Brusho Crystal Colours this time on my card.  These are pigmented coloured powders that I love :) You may have seen me using them before I am quite addicted.  They come in a wee pot that lasts forever.  You sprinkle some brusho on your paper and then spray some water and then sit back and watch the magic happen. This background is what I was left with after I had dried it with my heat gun. I used the Turquoise colour on my card today.  This stamp I used today was one I had for a couple of years and have never used. I just never knew what to do with it until now. This stamp is called Silver Lining . I used the cloud as a template and cut around some silver glitter paper and used some foam dots to stick it down.  I love the 3D effect if the cloud on the card.  I love the way it turned ou...

Happy New Year ~ Growing in Unity Day 1

Hello Friends   HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Welcome to my first post of 2016 and my first day of being the growing in Unity girl. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and have had a very happy New Year so far. I am not really into New Year resolutions are you?  However I do like to give myself new challenges.  There are a few things I would love to accomplish this year. Hence the new beginnings blog theme you will see this week.  I am excited to be showing you my projects every day this week. The first card I have up is one I made using the Christy Tomlinson She Leaped stamp and the She Script background stamp. I thought this was appropriate since it is the beginning of a New Year. I love this stamp and do not use it nearly enough. So I wanted to start off my new year with it.    I stamped the background of the card about 4 times with the script stamp using archival ink. I stamped...
