Release the past

 Hello Friends

I hope you all had a good week. I am slowly getting back into the swing of things after being gone almost a month.  Although I can't get over how cold it is here in New York. The wind chill goes right through you.  I hope it warms up a wee bit soon :)

So on to my card for today's Friends with Flair over at Unity Blog. I went with another pink and grey theme today. I got to ink up the Nov 2013 Kit of the Month for this card. I just love this kit especially the sentiments and this butterfly stamp is just amazing.  If you know me you know I LOVE to emboss. It really is addicting. I was in Michaels craft store last weekend and picked up this crazy embossing powder. It is light pink in color with large and small parts of glitter through it and I just had to have it. I wanted to try it out with this butterfly stamp.

I started off with some white card and sponged distress ink in two different colours. I used the pink Victorian Velvet on the top and the grey Weathered Wood on the bottom. I stamped the butterfly with VersaMark ink and then covered it with this glittery embossing powder. I heated it with my heat tool and then cut it out. The butterfly looked too plain and I think it needed a little something extra so I got some rhinestones but they were not matching the way I wanted them to. So I wanted to emboss them too :) So I VersaMarked the rhinestones and covered them with the same embossing powder and heated them up. They did warp a little but they did emboss pretty well and I put them on the body of the butterfly.

I sponged the sentiment with the same two inks and stamped it straight on to the card base. I glued the body of the butterfly to the card and left the wings loose to give the illusion of it fluttering off the card :)

I have also entered this card into the following Challenges
Feeling Crafty Challenge 24 - Butterflies

Thanks for visiting have a blessed day :)

Unity & Misti Blog Hop

Hello My lovelies :) Welcome to the Unity and Misti blog hop! I  hope you are enjoying seeing all of the projects so far. I just had my first wee play with the Misti tool the other day. It is a very new to me tool and wow do I LOVE it!! It is awesome! Just for the simplest of things like positioning a stamp.  One time is all you need with the Misti!! I am not one of those crafters that gets my stamped images crisp first time. I usually have wasted a card or two before I end up with a perfect image. This tool totally eliminates all of that.  Here is my very first card that I made with the Misti tool and Unity stamps.  I used a stamp called  Scattered Pieces . I LOVE this stamp and the sentiments that come with it.  I positioned the feather and the sentiment at the same time on the Misti.  I totally love that you can do that too!  It lets you stamp several at once instead of just eye b...

Craft Stamper November Challenge

Hey Friends Welcome to a new  Craft Stamper  challenge for November. Can you believe we are almost at the end of the year already!!  Where did time go?? It has been pretty cold and frosty up here in Scotland for the last few nights.   But I am hanging on to Autumn as long as I can. I took a wee walk around the park and collected some lovely Autumn leaves.  I wanted to incorporate them into my project today.  I put the leaves in some paper and put them inside a heavy book overnight to press them down.  I started off with a white card base and used this sentiment stamp from Unity and repeat stamped all down the side of my card using Potting Soil Archival Ink. Then I went around the edges with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink.  Next I took my leaves and my paper punches and punched a heart shape out from the yellow leaf and then stuck it to my card with fabric glue.  Then I punched som...

Tag Trio Day 5 GIU

Hello Friends Welcome to my final day as GIU girl. I must say that I have loved every minute of it and I have enjoyed putting all of my projects together for you to see. So I wanted to end my week with some distress tags. I love getting messy with my distress inks and using the embossing resist technique. I chose this lovely flower stamp set called  Insightful Meadows . The sentiments are from another stamp set called  The Simple Things . These were so easy to make I stamped all of the flowers and heat embossed them with white embossing powder. Then I took 3 different colours for each tag and swiped them on to my craft sheet. I spritzed some water and let the tag pick up the inks. I dried them 3 or 4 times in between until I had built up the colours I wanted.  I then stamped out the sentiments on to vellum and heat embossed them with white embossing powder. I attached the vellum with glue and glued it at the back of ...
