Built Her Wings ~ Growing in Unity Day 5

Hello Friends

I can't believe this is my last day as the Growing Unity Girl. I have enjoyed making all of my projects this week. My final project for you today is a tag I made with distress ink.  I think distress inks are my most favourite medium to work with. I used two stamp kits again today they are Fly with Wings of Hope & Much of a Good Thing.

I kept my tag the same colour all the way through. I used Peacock Feathers I love this colour so much. It is my favourite distress colour to work with.  I started off by stamping the distressed musical note stamp and heat embossing with white embossing powder. Then I smeared some distress ink on to my craft mat. Then spritzed with water and just built up the colour on the tag to where I was happy with it. I used my heat gun to dry in between each colour application. I stamped the sentiment and butterfly separately and coloured them. Then I glued them down to the tag. I used some foam squares to give the butterfly a wee lift like it was about to fly off the tag. I finished it off with some glitter and ribbon.

I used this stamp set just for this sentiment I LOVE it. It is also very appropriate for my current situation. I will be stepping out to the unknown in the next couple of weeks to pastures new. This is a huge leap of faith that I will be embarking on. I hope that this is also a year for you to step out and do something new even if it's out of your comfort zone.  I was reminded this week that life is so very short and fragile.  So go on and take the risk.  I am positive that your wings will carry you when you do take that leap!

I hope you have enjoyed seeing some of my creations. Remember and leave me a comment on all five of my posts this week to be in with a chance of wining some Unity. They are giving two lucky winners a bag of random Unity stamps. How great is that??  I will draw the winners on Monday to give everyone time to comment.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today. If you like what you see feel free to follow me and keep up to date with all of my new projects.

I blame this on having two bloggy friends with the same name, but different spellings. I am right now getting something ready to mail to Tasmanian Mandy and I see I have her name spelled on the envelope as Mandi!! Oh, bother.... I wonder what I did on the inside that is already sealed up!!! Arrrrghh... Ha.

Unity & Misti Blog Hop

Hello My lovelies :) Welcome to the Unity and Misti blog hop! I  hope you are enjoying seeing all of the projects so far. I just had my first wee play with the Misti tool the other day. It is a very new to me tool and wow do I LOVE it!! It is awesome! Just for the simplest of things like positioning a stamp.  One time is all you need with the Misti!! I am not one of those crafters that gets my stamped images crisp first time. I usually have wasted a card or two before I end up with a perfect image. This tool totally eliminates all of that.  Here is my very first card that I made with the Misti tool and Unity stamps.  I used a stamp called  Scattered Pieces . I LOVE this stamp and the sentiments that come with it.  I positioned the feather and the sentiment at the same time on the Misti.  I totally love that you can do that too!  It lets you stamp several at once instead of just eye b...

Tag Trio Day 5 GIU

Hello Friends Welcome to my final day as GIU girl. I must say that I have loved every minute of it and I have enjoyed putting all of my projects together for you to see. So I wanted to end my week with some distress tags. I love getting messy with my distress inks and using the embossing resist technique. I chose this lovely flower stamp set called  Insightful Meadows . The sentiments are from another stamp set called  The Simple Things . These were so easy to make I stamped all of the flowers and heat embossed them with white embossing powder. Then I took 3 different colours for each tag and swiped them on to my craft sheet. I spritzed some water and let the tag pick up the inks. I dried them 3 or 4 times in between until I had built up the colours I wanted.  I then stamped out the sentiments on to vellum and heat embossed them with white embossing powder. I attached the vellum with glue and glued it at the back of ...

Craft Stamper November Challenge

Hey Friends Welcome to a new  Craft Stamper  challenge for November. Can you believe we are almost at the end of the year already!!  Where did time go?? It has been pretty cold and frosty up here in Scotland for the last few nights.   But I am hanging on to Autumn as long as I can. I took a wee walk around the park and collected some lovely Autumn leaves.  I wanted to incorporate them into my project today.  I put the leaves in some paper and put them inside a heavy book overnight to press them down.  I started off with a white card base and used this sentiment stamp from Unity and repeat stamped all down the side of my card using Potting Soil Archival Ink. Then I went around the edges with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink.  Next I took my leaves and my paper punches and punched a heart shape out from the yellow leaf and then stuck it to my card with fabric glue.  Then I punched som...
